Hi,

I’m Niloufer Venkatraman and I write this blog. I work as a writer, editor, and wordsmith.

I’ve been toying with idea of starting a blog for many years. Yes, years. But I haven’t done it so far for many reasons. Chief excuse: I just didn’t have the time. For five-and-a-half-years, until 31st March 2017, I was totally absorbed in the dream job I had as Editor-in-Chief of the Indian editions of National Geographic Traveller and National Geographic Magazine. It was a great stint, but it was also intensely absorbing. I longed for days with 36 hours in them. There was no way I could have run a blog, or done justice to it. When that stint came to an end, I took a five-month break, a trek in the Himalayas, and spent lots of time with my now 12-year-old daughter. Then I started writing and editing again.

Seems to me that now is the perfect time to start the blog I’ve been thinking about for so long. So here I am.

This blog has three sections. Travel – my passion. Food – my other passion. And Life – passion for which varies in intensity from day to day ;). This last section I’m sure will evolve over time. But for now, it will contain thoughts and ideas of what I’ve learnt, what tickles or touches me about the world, the experiences I’ve had. In short: What (I think) I know.

I have no tricks up my sleeve, and no savvy plans or networking strategies for this blog. I’m just going to start. And see how, and where, it goes…
